Former Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Hon. Paul Twum-Barimah, has congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana for qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, October 12, 2025, he wrote: “Congratulations to the Black Stars of Ghana. We’re proud of you.”
Ghana secured their place at the World Cup after a 1-0 win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium. Mohammed Kudus scored the only goal of the game early in the second half, tapping in a cross from Thomas Partey.
The win took Ghana to 25 points, finishing top of Group I. It also marked the fifth time the Black Stars have qualified for the World Cup.
Ghana needed just a draw to qualify, but Comoros had beaten them in their last two meetings, including a famous win at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite a slow first half, the team stepped up in the second half to get the result. Madagascar’s 4-1 loss to Mali also helped confirm Ghana’s qualification.
This World Cup qualification comes as a big boost after Ghana failed to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
