The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has announced the recovery of GH¢12.9 billion in misappropriated public funds from various state agencies, a major development in the government’s push for accountability and financial discipline.

This was revealed in an engagement with the media on the side of the committee’s work.

“Per the work of the Public Accounts Committee, and with the support of the Auditor-General, we have been able to retrieve GH¢12.9 billion,” Ms.Asare declared.

She further added that for the right things to be done and for greater impact to be achieved, the support of the media would be essential since they play a key role in holding officials accountable to the general public and government.

As the story develops, public interest will focus on which agencies are involved, how the funds were misused, and what sanctions (if any) will follow. The next sitting of the Committee is scheduled for October 27, 2025.
