Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II has called on Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, to prioritise fairness and merit when selecting players for the Black Stars.
During a courtesy visit, the Asante monarch expressed his concern over the recent decline of the national football team, attributing it to favouritism in player call-ups.
“The Black Stars have been disgraceful these days,” Otumfuo said, emphasising the need to get the team back on track.
He urged Adams to ensure that the selection process is based solely on performance, free from external pressures or influences.
“Make sure the technical team invites players who deserve to be in the national team. No one else should be allowed to push their players onto the team,” Asantehene Otumfuo cautioned.
