The Deputy General Secretary of the United Party Plus (UP+), Nana Yaw Sarpong, says the personal relationship between the Special Prosecutor and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is making it difficult for justice to be served.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day show, Sarpong said Until the OSP’s personal relationship with Ken Ofori-Atta is dealt with, it will be hard for him to do his job properly.

Ofori-Atta is currently facing corruption-related charges and is believed to be living in the United States.

Nana Yaw Sarpong questioned why the OSP claims not to know his location, even though Ofori-Atta is reportedly challenging the case in court.

“You can’t file a case in court without an address,” Sarpong said. “If he’s in court, then they know where he is. So why say you don’t know?”

He also criticized the OSP’s public responses, saying the office was using complicated language instead of taking real action.

Sarpong stressed that the law must apply to everyone equally, warning that the case is a test of Ghana’s justice system.

“If it were an ordinary person like me, I would have been brought back to Ghana in a week,” he added.

He urged the Attorney General and other authorities to speed up the extradition process and ensure fairness in the case.
