The OSP emphasized that if Ofori-Atta fails to return as planned or misses his rescheduled meeting, he will once again be considered a fugitive, and the OSP will take legal steps to secure his attendance.

In an update from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is no longer considered a fugitive.

This decision comes after he communicated a clear and definite return date to the OSP, addressing earlier concerns over his absence from Ghana.

On February 12, 2025, the OSP issued a public statement declaring Ofori-Atta a wanted person, citing his failure to provide a reasonable timeline for his return to the country.

The former finance minister was a suspect in several corruption-related investigations and had been instructed to appear before the OSP in Accra for questioning.

However, on February 18, 2025, Ofori-Atta, through his legal team, informed the OSP of his planned return to Ghana. The Special Prosecutor’s office acknowledged the communication, noting that the new timeline was deemed acceptable under the circumstances.

As a result, the OSP has removed Ofori-Atta from its wanted list and agreed to reschedule his interview, taking into account his stated date of return.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor reaffirmed its commitment to upholding accountability with due process and fairness.
