A governance and Political Expert, Fredrick Agyako Oduro has commended the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) decision to withdraw from the pending Tamale Central by-elections.

According to him, the decision by the party is a step in the right direction and a show of respect to the late Member of Parliament.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a statement signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong announced it won’t contest the upcoming Tamale Central parliamentary by-election. The decision follows the tragic death of the constituency’s MP, Alhaji Hon. Dr. Murtala Mohammed, in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong stated that holding a competitive by-election under the circumstances would be “inhumane and unconscionable”.
Speaking in an interview on Atinka Fm’s Morning show with host Ekow Budu Sam, Mr. Agyako stated that the decision by the good and must be commended.
