NIB releases Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi

The investigation centers on financial decisions made during Ameyaw-Akumfi’s time at GIIF, specifically regarding certain approvals he signed off on in his capacity as board chairman.

Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, the former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board, has been released from detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

The release follows his brief detention in connection with an ongoing investigation into financial matters related to his tenure at the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF).

Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s release was confirmed by his legal representative, Ken Kuranchie. According ttoMr. Kuranchie, the former official was at his residence early Sunday when a group of men, traveling in three pickup trucks, arrived and informed him that his presence was requested at NIB hheadquarters.

Mr. Ameyaw-Akumfi voluntarily accompanied the agents to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra, where he was detained for questioning.
