Ghana’s ruling party National Democratic Congress says it will hold its National Delegates Conference on Dec. 19, 2026, to elect new national leaders.

General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey told reporters Thursday the internal elections will follow a bottom-to-top process, beginning at the branch level, moving through constituency and regional structures, and ending at the national stage.

He said nominations will open from Nov. 7 to Nov. 9, with vetting scheduled for Nov. 12 and Nov. 13. “Appeals will be done on Sunday, November 15 and Monday, 16th of November, 2026,” Kwetey said. He added that the youth and women’s conference is set for Dec. 12.

“That congress will happen on Saturday, the 19th December, 2026,” he announced.

Kwetey said the exercise is part of the party’s broader effort to reorganize and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections. “So that completes the very important edifice that is supposed to prepare for the next round of fighting for the power in the country and also ensure that we continue the good job that we are doing,” he said.

Meanwhile the party will hold regional elections on Nov. 14, 2026, to choose party leadership at the regional level.

General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey told reporters the process will follow the party’s established sequence, beginning with the picking of nomination forms, vetting, appeals and campaign activities ahead of the polls.

He said a regional youth and women’s conference will be held before the main vote to elect youth leaders. “Then the final one will be the date for the regional elections, which will be Saturday, 14th November and Sunday, November 16. So by the close of that Sunday, the party will be in a position to have all our regional executives,” Kwetey said.
