Mobile Money vendor shot dead in Ashanti region robbery

Attacks on mobile money vendors have become increasingly common in Ghana, with several victims either killed or injured in recent years

A 27-year-old mobile money vendor, Patricia Nimako, has been shot and killed in an armed robbery attack at Krofrom in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.

The assailants, believed to be two armed men, escaped with GH₵10,000 and several mobile phones after attacking Ms Nimako at her kiosk around 3:00 pm on Thursday, 13 February.

Eyewitnesses say she was shot outside her shop shortly after withdrawing money from a bank.

Ms Nimako was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.

Residents say they are living in fear of further attacks.

Police have since visited the scene and launched an investigation.
