Thirteen contestants have been officially unveiled for this year’s Miss Tourism Kwahu pageant, an initiative aimed at promoting tourism and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Kwahu Traditional Area during the annual Easter festivities.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Kwahu Queen Mother’s Palace and was marked by a colourful display of culture and tradition. The event attracted traditional leaders, tourism stakeholders, and members of the public, underscoring the growing importance of the pageant as part of activities lined up for the Kwahu Easter celebrations, which draw thousands of visitors to the area each year.
Speaking at the ceremony, the organizer, Apostle Stephen Awuah, explained that the pageant goes beyond crowning a beauty queen. According to him, the ultimate goal is to select a tourism ambassador who will actively promote Kwahu’s culture, development initiatives, and lesser-known tourist sites.
“The idea is to use the platform to highlight tourism destinations in Kwahu that are not widely known and to position the area as a must-visit destination, especially during Easter,” he said.
Welcoming the contestants, Nana Simpe Owiredu III, Kontihene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, encouraged them to feel at home and to embrace their role as cultural ambassadors. He urged them to project the beauty, peace, and rich traditions of Kwahu to the rest of the country.
He also called on Ghanaians from all walks of life to visit Kwahu during this year’s Easter celebrations, emphasizing that the area remains peaceful and ready to receive visitors.
The Miss Tourism Kwahu pageant is expected to climax during the Easter festivities, with the winner taking on the responsibility of promoting tourism and cultural heritage across the Kwahu enclave.
