A military helicopter is reported to have crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, with early accounts suggesting that some passengers may have been burnt to death.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, but details remain limited as emergency teams rush to the crash site.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash or disclose the identities of those on board.
In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed that a Z-9 helicopter went off radar after departing on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The aircraft was en route to Obuasi when communication was lost.
The GAF noted that efforts are currently underway to locate the missing helicopter and restore contact.
Initial reports indicate that the helicopter was carrying eight individuals three crew members and five passengers. A full manifest has not yet been released.
The Ghana Armed Forces, in collaboration with other relevant agencies, is expected to provide further updates as investigations progress.
