President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a 19-member task force tasked with overseeing the delivery of key social contracts within his first 120 days in office.
The new body, announced on Tuesday, 11th February, will monitor and ensure that Mahama’s promised initiatives, unveiled in his party’s manifesto, are successfully implemented. The launch took place at the Jubilee House in Accra.
In August 2024, Mahama’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) presented a detailed economic revitalization plan aimed at addressing challenges such as inflation, unemployment, and currency depreciation.
At the unveiling, Mahama criticized the current administration, led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for what he called its “abysmal performance” in managing the economy. He pledged to rejuvenate Ghana’s economy with a series of 26 key transformational projects within the first 120 days of his potential presidency.
The members of the task force include senior officials and ministers such as Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, who will serve as the Chairman, Hon. Ato Forson (Minister for Finance), Hon. John Jinapor (Minister for Energy), and Hon. Haruna Iddrisu (Minister for Education), among others.
The task force will play a central role in ensuring that Mahama’s proposed reforms are effectively executed in the early stages of his leadership should he win the 2024 elections.
