The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama, has ordered a full-scale investigation into allegations of suspicious flights arriving at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), which are suspected to be involved in drug trafficking and money laundering. This follows a press conference by Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, who raised concerns about two flights that allegedly landed at KIA under suspicious circumstances. In a Facebook post, , President Mahama, has tasked multiple investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to immediately collaborate with the MP to gather all necessary information for a thorough probe. “We take all allegations seriously, and to ensure transparency, I have directed all relevant agencies to work closely with the honourable Member of Parliament to investigate the claims and expose any drug-related activities,” – President Mahama assured. Ghana has a zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking, and the authorities have vowed not to allow the country to be used as a transit or final destination for illicit drugs. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s borders and ensuring that security agencies remain vigilant in preventing the country from becoming a hub for international drug cartels. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and provide any relevant information that can aid in the fight against drug-related crimes.
