President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Minister of Fisheries, Emelia Arthur, to work with the Finance Minister to secure funding for the completion of the Anomabu Fisheries College in the Central Region.
The project, initiated by the NDC government in 2011, has remained unfinished since Mahama left office. The college, located in Anomabu, is designed to provide education on sustainable fishing and aquaculture, with facilities including lecture theatres, a principal’s bungalow, fish ponds, boreholes, and a water pumping station. The college is planned to accommodate 300 students.
Speaking during his “Thank You” tour of the Central Region on Thursday, February 6, Mahama said the project was near completion, with only furnishings, teaching materials, and some roadwork left to be done. He emphasized the importance of finishing the project, saying: “We will find the funds to complete them. The project is close to completion.”
Mahama also reiterated his commitment to completing all abandoned projects, regardless of which government initiated them, whether under the NPP or NDC. “We will find the funds to complete them,” he added. “This is why we promised to continue all abandoned projects.”
