The Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Francis-Xavier Sosu (Esq.), has made a heartfelt appeal to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Ghana Police Administration to give priority to trained Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) in the upcoming police recruitment exercise.
Speaking during an official handing-over ceremony of CPAs to the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service, the MP emphasized the need to create clear employment pathways for the youth. He urged the security agencies to recognize the commitment and discipline of the young men and women who have successfully undergone CPA training and are currently serving in Madina.
“These young people have shown exceptional dedication and readiness to serve the nation. I respectfully appeal to the IGP to consider them first when the next recruitment comes. They are already trained, poised, and committed,” Hon. Sosu stated.
As part of the event, the MP also presented 13 motorbikes to the Ghana Police and Fire Services in Madina to enhance their mobility and community outreach. In addition, he announced an allocation of GH₵20,000 from his office to support the completion of a borehole project at the Madina Fire Station, aimed at boosting the station’s firefighting capabilities and water access for the community.
Hon. Sosu explained that these interventions are part of a broader effort to support youth employment, community safety, and institutional capacity, in line with the vision of President H.E. John Dramani Mahama to create sustainable job opportunities for young people across the country.
The YEA Municipal Director for Madina, Wisdom Akorlor, highlighted the importance of collective action in tackling youth unemployment.
“Youth employment is a national issue that one person or institution cannot solve alone. We are calling on all stakeholders—private and public—to come on board and offer opportunities for our youth,” Mr. Akorlor said.
Residents and community leaders present at the ceremony commended the Government’s efforts, describing the initiative as timely and impactful, especially as many young people in the constituency seek stable career paths.
The CPAs will work closely with the Police and Fire Services in various capacities, gaining valuable experience while supporting local law enforcement and emergency services.
