Lil Win is honouring the late highlife great Daddy Lumba in a big way! The actor and filmmaker has revealed his upcoming movie, “Me Kum Me Ho Ma’ Nipa”, directed by Kwasi Badu, as a touching tribute to the music icon.
In an emotional Facebook post, Lil Win urged Ghanaians to rise above rivalry and remember Daddy Lumba for his remarkable contribution to music, adding that his legacy “must live forever.”
“Let’s not allowed any rivalry takes away the love we have for our legend the late
Mr. CHARLES KWADWO FOSU (DADDY LUMBA) let’s keep projecting his legacy and he will continue to live forever in our hearts
Let’s all watch this great movie as a farewell from the WEZZY EMPIRE C.E.O MR. KWADWO NKANSAH LILWIN to the legend DADDY LUMBA (sic)”. Lil Win wrote.
While Lil Win’s latest project was intended as a tribute, it has instead reignited controversy online. Social media users have pointed to his strained history with Daddy Lumba’s family, recalling his previous claim that the late musician had blocked the release of one of his films.
Observers say including Great Ampong — with whom Daddy Lumba had a well-publicized fallout — risks being interpreted as an act of provocation rather than homage.
Kumawood actor and producer Lil Win is set to release his upcoming movie titled “Me Kum Me Ho Ma’ Nipa”, featuring an impressive cast that includes Bill Asamoah, Vivian Jill, and Akrobeto.
However, this isn’t the first time the actor has faced public criticism over his film projects. His previous movie, “Ibrahim Traore”, premiered on August 2, 2025 — the same day as Daddy Lumba’s candlelight vigil — a move that sparked backlash from sections of the public and fans of the legendary musician.
Despite the controversy, the premiere drew thousands of moviegoers to cinemas across the country.
Addressing the issue, Lil Win clarified that his disappointment had nothing to do with the movie’s performance but rather his inability to honor Daddy Lumba at the vigil.
“I wanted to be at Lumba’s vigil and not left out,” he said. “I didn’t mention it because of my movie, but because I’m a huge fan of Daddy Lumba and I deeply admire him.”
With “Me Kum Me Ho Ma’ Nipa” expected to hit cinemas soon, fans are anticipating another thrilling performance from the Kumawood star and his all-star cast.
