The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West Municipality Hon. Halidu Tamimu has distributed 10,000 Nkoko Nketenkete chicks to 200 households as part of efforts to improve livelihoods and boost poultry production in the area.

The initiative forms part of a government programme aimed at supporting households with sustainable income while strengthening food security within the municipality.

 

At a brief ceremony to hand over the chicks to beneficiary households, the MCE explained that the programme is designed to empower families to venture into small-scale poultry farming and generate additional sources of income.

According to him, each selected household received a number of the Nkoko Nketenkete, a hardy local breed known for its ability to adapt to the local environment and reproduce quickly.

He urged the beneficiaries to take proper care of the birds to ensure the success of the programme and help expand poultry production across the municipality.

Meanwhile, the Kwahu West Municipal Agriculture Director and Veterinary Officer assured that measures had been put in place to manage mortality rates among the chicks. They also advised beneficiaries to properly feed and care for the birds to ensure healthy growth and productivity.
