The Kwahu Afram Plains South District Assembly has officially opened a new cow market at Ekye Amanfrom, an initiative aimed at enhancing revenue mobilisation and providing a dedicated trading space for cattle owners in the area.
Previously, cattle owners endured the burden of transporting their livestock to distant communities to sell, a challenge that often resulted in financial losses and stress. The establishment of the new market is expected to ease these difficulties while stimulating local economic activity.
Speaking at the launch, the Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Appiah Boateng, said the market would contribute significantly to the district’s revenue generation efforts. He also highlighted some developmental projects he has initiated within the constituency, expressing confidence that the new market will complement ongoing interventions.
The District Chief Executive, Moses Tangmee, described the market as a timely addition that will benefit farmers, traders, and the assembly. He noted that the initiative will not only improve livestock trading but also create a structured environment for business growth.
The community is optimistic that the new market will bring relief to cattle owners, attract buyers from surrounding communities, and contribute to the district’s overall economic progress.
