Speaking at a training session with matchday officials on Tuesday, Mr.Okraku stressed the need for honesty and fairness when assessing match commissioners' performances.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has issued a stern warning to match commissioners, stating that those who fail to meet expectations will be dismissed.

The warning comes amid heightened scrutiny of the GFA’s handling of safety measures at match centres, following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong Pooley.

Pooley died during a Week 19 match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman in the Ghana Premier League, leading to the suspension of the league and a meeting between the GFA and 18 Premier League clubs to discuss improved safety measures.

He acknowledged the current issues surrounding matchday safety and insisted that immediate changes are necessary.

“We’ll be very, very fair in assessing your work; be honest,” Mr. Okraku said, adding: “Those who fall below the line will unfortunately leave us. When you hear the discourse in the public space, you would admit that all is not well. If we have the opportunity to address what isn’t right, now is the time.”

In related developments, Asante Kotoko have decided not to resume football activities until justice is served for Pooley’s death.

The club’s first team will begin training on Wednesday, February 19, but remain firm in their commitment to not participate in any matches until sufficient measures are in place.

Authorities have identified Brimah as the prime suspect in Pooley’s killing, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
