The ongoing investigation into the tragic death of Francis ‘Nana Pooley’ Frimpong, a dedicated supporter of Ghana’s Asante Kotoko Football Club, has made significant progress.
According to the club’s spokesperson, Samuel Sarfo Duku, the police have successfully identified the individual responsible for Pooley’s stabbing to death.
The incident occurred during Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League matchday 19 fixture against Nsoatreman in Nsoatre, where Pooley, a passionate fan, was fatally attacked.
Following a court session on February 17, Mr Sarfo Duku confirmed that the police had pinpointed a suspect named Brimah, who remains at large.
Initially, three individuals were arrested in connection with the case, including Ignatius Baffour-Awuah and his bodyguard.
However, two were granted bail, while the third was denied and faced further legal proceedings.
The case has drawn considerable attention from the Asante Kotoko community, with the club honouring Pooley’s memory over the weekend in a one-week memorial.
Club officials and players attended the service to pay their respects to the loyal supporter.
