The Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has refuted claims that she misappropriated GH¢90,000 received from the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

According to her, the funds were legitimately requested under the NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and were used to rehabilitate the Anoenu CHPS facility in her constituency.

“The money was used exactly for what it was intended — to upgrade the CHPS compound and enhance maternity and reproductive health services for the people of Anoenu,” she stated.

She explained that the project involved the construction of a two-cubicle water-closet, a urinal, and additional rooms, as well as the provision of medical equipment and supplies to improve healthcare delivery.

“It’s ridiculous for anyone to think that I have the capacity to take state money for personal gain,” she said.

“I wrote to the NLA for part of their CSR fund to put up the water-closet and urinal for a CHPS compound I was remodeling. I inherited a one-room facility with a shed in front of it, but we’ve now been able to expand it to properly serve mothers and newborns,” she added.

Madam Gomashie emphasized that every cedi of the GH¢90,000 was accounted for and used solely for the benefit of her constituents, insisting that “not a dime went into my pocket.”

In September, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie faced public scrutiny following a report by The Fourth Estate, which listed her as a beneficiary of the National Lottery Authority’s Good Causes Foundation and claimed she had received GH¢90,000.

Seeking to clarify the matter, the Ketu South legislator organised a media visit to the Anoenu CHPS compound to provide firsthand verification of how the funds were utilised.
