Kasoa Old Market Redevelopment: Traders Agree to Relocate to Iron City Market After Engagement with MCE

Traders operating at sections of the Kasoa Old Market have agreed to relocate to the Iron City Market following an engagement with the Municipal Chief Executive of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly.

The meeting between the MCE, traditional leaders, and the traders was aimed at resolving the impasse surrounding the redevelopment of the old market facility and addressing concerns regarding the relocation process.

After discussions and clarifications from authorities, the traders accepted the designated relocation plan to the Iron City Market to allow work on the redevelopment project to proceed.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Sabah Sewornoo-Banini, assured the traders that the relocation arrangement is temporary and forms part of a broader initiative to redevelop the aging market infrastructure.

According to him, the Assembly remains committed to protecting the interests of traders and ensuring that those currently operating at the old market are prioritized when the redevelopment project is completed. He further assured them that affected traders will be allocated stores in the new facility once construction is finished.

Also addressing the traders was the Odikro of Kasoa, Nai Saani Seidu, who indicated that after inspecting the Iron City Market together with the traders and the MCE, he was satisfied with the condition of the facility.

He therefore encouraged traders to relocate and continue their trading activities at the Iron City Market while redevelopment works on the old market progress. The chief also assured them that any additional concerns raised by the traders would be considered and addressed.

Following the engagement, the traders expressed appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and the traditional authorities for the dialogue and clarifications, which they said helped ease their concerns.

The traders have since agreed to move to the Iron City Market and continue their businesses there until the redevelopment of the Kasoa Old Market is completed.
