The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members in Kasoa to set aside internal differences and work collectively for the constituency’s progress.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour of the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah addressed ongoing tensions between factions aligned with the local Member of Parliament and the Constituency Chairman. He emphasized that such divisions threaten both development efforts and the party’s electoral prospects in future contests.

“Division retards development,” he stressed, urging party leaders and supporters to “let everything go and work hand in hand” to achieve progress for both the constituency and the NDC.

Roots of the Dispute

The Kasoa NDC has experienced internal friction since the December 7, 2024 general election, with factions forming around:

-Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, the Member of Parliament

-Stephen Ofosu Agyare, the Constituency Chairman

Insiders say the disagreements have created tension in the local party structure, undermining cohesion and potentially affecting the NDC’s ability to deliver development initiatives.

MP Responds to Allegations

During the visit, MP Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor addressed allegations that she had:

-Withheld appointments and job opportunities meant for party members

-Received funds from the National Chairman and kept them for personal use

The MP categorically denied these claims, labeling them as false narratives circulated to tarnish her reputation within the party.

The Call to Unity

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah reiterated that party cohesion is critical for local development and electoral success. His message underscores the NDC leadership’s priority of fostering unity and collaboration to ensure both constituency growth and the strengthening of the party’s grassroots structures.
