Interior Minister Renews Curfews Amid Ongoing Security Concerns in Bawku, Binduri

Renewing the curfew hours for Binduri Township and the surrounding area in the Upper East Region was done by Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak on the recommendation of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument.

As of Monday, September 29, 2025, the curfew is in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

He called on Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the local populace to employ non-violent methods to focus their energies on maintaining peace in the region and to display restraint when faced with the difficulties they face.

All individuals in Binduri Township and the surrounding area are strictly prohibited from carrying firearms, ammunition, or any other type of offensive weapon, as well as from riding motorcycles or wearing smocks.  Anyone found in possession of weapons or ammunition would be arrested and charged, the minister said.

With effect from Monday, September 29, 2025, the Interior Minister has also extended the curfew hours for Bawku Municipality and the surrounding areas in the Upper East Region from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., based on the National Security Council’s recommendation and Executive Instrument.
