Security Analyst Richard Kumadoe has stated that the Interior Minister does not determine who gets recruited into the country’s security services.
Speaking during an interview on Morning Target on Bullet TV, Mr. Kumadoe explained that recruitment decisions are the responsibility of the heads of the various security agencies.
“As Interior Minister you don’t make that determination as to who joins the security service, you leave that for the Agency heads,” he stated.
According to him, the structure of Ghana’s security sector places recruitment authority in the hands of agency leadership, including institutions such as the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Prisons Service.
He added that the Interior Minister primarily provides policy direction and oversight, while operational matters such as recruitment and personnel selection are handled internally by the leadership of the respective security agencies.
