President John Dramani Mahama has promised to complete all abandoned projects in the country irrespective of which government started them.
This includes the long-abandoned Anomabu Fisheries College in the Central Region.
Speaking during his Thank You tour in Anomabu on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Mr Mahama revealed that he has directed the Fisheries Minister, Emelia Arthur, to work closely with the Finance Minister to secure funding for the project in the upcoming budget.
The college, which was initiated by the NDC government in 2011, was left incomplete after he left office in 2016.
Designed to train 300 students in sustainable fishing and aquaculture, the facility includes lecture theatres, a principal’s bungalow, fish ponds, boreholes, and a water pumping station.
Mr Mahama stressed that the remaining work is minimal, requiring only furniture, teaching materials, and campus roadworks to make the college operational.
“This is why we have committed to completing all abandoned projects, regardless of which government started them,” Mr Mahama stated, adding: “We will secure funds for the completion, and once phase one is done, we will move to phase two.”
