Kwabena Adu Boahen and other defendants have been ordered by the High Court to receive directly from the Ghana Police Service all of the information they possess regarding a BMW 740D with the registration number WBA21EJ020CM11428.
The prosecution used the car mentioned above as evidence to show the court that the former director of the Signals Bureau had neglected to disclose his assets while serving in public office and was also suspected of importing and selling stolen automobiles.
Samuel Atta Akyea, the attorney for Adu Boahen and two other defendants, was groveling before the court, requesting that it force the Attorney-General to produce the bill of lading and other records of a stolen BMW car that the former Signals Bureau Boss allegedly brought into the nation for sale.
The attorney claimed that the prosecution had concealed information that was essential to the accused’s defense.
However, the court was informed by Justice Srem Sai, the Deputy Attorney-General, that the information requested by defence counsel was already in the court and could not be obtained.
The bill of lading should be provided by Kwabena Adu Boahen, the importer of the vehicle in question, not the attorney general, he added.
The court ruled that the police service would be ordered to provide all information necessary for the accused to defend themselves because the defence attorney had publicly expressed his mistrust of the Attorney General.
Thursday, July 31, 2025, was chosen as the new date for the case. Eleven charges of conspiracy to commit crime, theft, using public office for personal gain, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state are being brought against Kwabena Adu Boahene, Angela Adjei Boateng, Mildred Donkor, and Advantage Solutions Limited. They are all out on bail after entering not guilty pleas.
