Guinness Ghana has announced a major boost to Ghana’s music industry with the introduction of a new annual prize package for the Album/EP of the Year category at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

The initiative, unveiled ahead of this year’s awards ceremony, will see the winner receive a GH₵100,000 cash prize, funding support for the production of a music video for their next project, and a curated album listening experience powered by the company.

According to Guinness Ghana, the move is aimed at deepening its long-standing commitment to the growth of the country’s creative sector by rewarding artistic excellence beyond awards night.

“The Album/EP of the Year category represents the pinnacle of artistic expression—body of work, storytelling, and sonic identity,” said Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Head of Media & Partnerships at Guinness Ghana.

“This package is our way of recognizing excellence and investing in the future of the artist and the industry at large.”

The company emphasized that the expanded prize offering is designed to create long-term value for artists by supporting not just recognition, but also production and audience engagement opportunities.

As a key partner of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Guinness Ghana’s latest intervention is expected to elevate the significance of the Album/EP of the Year category, while reinforcing its broader support for Ghana’s creative industries.

This year’s nominees for Album/EP of the Year include:

  • Black Sherif – Iron Boy
  • Stonebwoy – Torcher
  • Gyakie – After Midnight
  • Medikal – Disturbation II
  • Wendy Shay – Ready
  • Kweku Smoke – Walk With Me

Organizers say the addition of a curated listening experience will also create new avenues for industry connection and fan engagement, giving the eventual winner increased visibility for their work.

Commenting on the development, Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, described the initiative as a timely boost for Ghanaian music.

“This is an important intervention from Guinness Ghana. It aligns with our commitment to celebrate and elevate Ghanaian music, while also creating tangible support for artists. It sends a strong signal about the value of albums and EPs as lasting creative works,” he said.

The 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is expected to bring together the biggest names in the industry, with anticipation building around who will take home the enhanced Album/EP of the Year prize.
