Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusinesses, and Industry, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to using the 24-hour economy initiative to transform the agribusiness sector through inclusive and sustainable industrial growth.

The government’s new policy direction offers a unique opportunity to accelerate productivity and value addition across the agriculture value chain, according to Madam Ofosu-Adjare, who spoke at the National Agribusiness Dialogue on Monday, July 28, 2025, with the theme;

“Resetting Agribusiness for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Growth.”

“In line with this ambition, the government’s 24-hour economy offers an exciting and complementary strategic opportunity to amplify the transformative change we seek within the agribusiness sector,” she stated.

Hourly operations would help increase productivity, lower post-harvest losses, and encourage ongoing value addition, she explained, especially in agro-processing, logistics, storage, and market access.

A larger national strategy to modernize agriculture and fully integrate smallholder farmers, agripreneurs, and SMEs into a robust, globally competitive economy is what the Minister says these interventions are a part of.

“Together, these initiatives will not only expand employment opportunities across the entire agriculture value chain but also ensure that agripreneurs and SMEs are fully integrated into a modern, resilient, and globally competitive economy,” she emphasized.

She also emphasized that a dedication to sustainability, inclusivity, and purpose propels the government’s industrial agenda.

“It is yet another demonstration of our president’s resolve to industrialize with purpose, inclusivity, and sustainability at the core,” Madam Ofosu-Adjare noted.

During the discussion, the Minister urged all parties involved in the agribusiness ecosystem to make audacious and helpful contributions.

In conclusion, she said; “As we engage in this dialogue, I urge all stakeholders to contribute boldly and constructively. Let us share ideas, challenge assumptions, and think creatively about what the future of agribusiness in Ghana should look like.”

Key figures from the trade, industry, and agriculture sectors convened for the National Agribusiness Dialogue to discuss creative ways to develop Ghana’s agribusiness environment in line with the nation’s industrialization goals.
