The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) members have been urged by Minister for Labor, Jobs, and Employment Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo to halt their statewide strike, which started yesterday, Monday, March 9, 2026.

Mr. Abdul-Rashid underlined that the government is dedicated to addressing the union’s concerns on the postponed implementation of a redesigned salary structure and better working conditions through constructive dialogue.

In an interview with ChannelOne News, Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo said CLOGSAG’s demand for a new salary structure is not unreasonable but is substantial, as approving it would have implications for other unions.

He stressed that the government is actively addressing the union’s concerns and will continue efforts to resolve the issues behind the strike.

The minister noted ongoing engagement with the National Labour Commission, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance to find a resolution.

He emphasized that industrial action is not necessary at this time because CLOGSAG’s concerns are being addressed through the channels of communication already in place to address the union’s grievances.

The demand for the association to temporarily halt the strike, the Minister reiterated, maintains the constructive relationship between the public service and the government.

Additionally, he asked lawmakers to put communication above conflict while the administration strives for a prompt conclusion.
