The government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, has awarded the contract for the construction of the 8.5-kilometre Gomoa Nyanyano road, clearing the way for work to begin.

The road, which has been in a deplorable state for several years, has significantly affected socio-economic activities in the area and exposed commuters to health and safety risks.

Persistent appeals from traditional authorities and sustained media attention on the condition of the road contributed to the project being secured under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme.

The contract has been awarded to Justmoh Constructions.

Following the announcement, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Hon. Desmond Degraft Paitoo, paid a courtesy call on the Nyanyano Palace to formally brief chiefs and elders on the development.

Hon. Paitoo expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities and residents for their patience and resilience over the years, acknowledging the hardships caused by the poor state of the road. He also thanked the Minister for Roads and Highways and President Mahama for responding to the community’s long-standing concerns.

He assured Nananom of his commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the project.

Meanwhile, the Ankobeahene of Gomoa Nyanyano, Nana Ayi Quaye, commended the government for finally responding to the numerous petitions from the community. He, however, cautioned the contractor to deliver quality work and urged government authorities to prevent delays or interruptions that could stall the project.

He stressed that the timely completion of the road would significantly improve transportation, boost local economic activity, and enhance the quality of life for residents in the area.
