Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, a pioneering figure in Ghanaian politics and former First Lady, has died.
She was the wife of the late President Jerry John Rawlings and a prominent advocate for women’s empowerment across Africa. Her political career spanned decades, marked by her leadership of the 31st December Women’s Movement and her later role as founder of the National Democratic Party.
Known for her outspoken views and formidable presence, Mrs. Rawlings played a significant role in shaping Ghana’s democratic landscape. Her death comes 5 years after the passing of her husband, deepening a sense of national reflection on their legacy.
