Ghanaian travelers will no longer need traditional visas to visit Morocco. This was announced by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in an Eid post on Facebook on Friday, June 6th.
This decision follows a bilateral agreement reached on June 5th between Ablakwa and his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, during the Ghanaian minister’s two-day working visit.
Rather than going through the embassy, travelers will now apply for an online authorization that will be granted within 24 hours. Mr.Ablakwa’s post on Facebook read:
“With immediate effect, Ghanaians will no longer require traditional visas to travel to Morocco. An online authorization, which will be granted within 24 hours without embassy appointments, is all that’s needed.”
He also noted that there would be an increase in direct flights between Ghana and Morocco to support the new visa waiver policy.
This agreement is expected to boost trade, tourism and strengthen ties between both nations.
