Team Ghana concluded their campaign at the 2025 Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Championships with a haul of 69 medals, playing host at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra over a three-day competition.
In the junior category, Ghana, represented by 12 young swimmers, claimed 43 medals, placing second overall behind Senegal, who edged them out despite Ghana’s strong performance. Senegal secured 11 golds, just one more than Ghana’s junior team. Nigeria followed in third place with 32 medals.
Standout junior performers included Lea El Haj, who earned five medals (three gold), and Jada Yankey, who amassed 11 medals (two gold). In the male junior ranks, Kal-El Ntiamoah secured five medals (two gold) to place third behind Aidan Dumuje-Abilli of Nigeria and Nael Lamine Vision of Senegal. The former grabbed eight medals (six gold) while the latter claimed seven (four gold).
In the senior division, Ghana topped the medal table with 26 medals, of which 13 were gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze. Senegal followed closely with 36 medals, including 12 gold.
Among individual honors, Harry Stacey of Ghana stood out: he was named Best Male Senior Swimmer, winning six medals (five gold). His teammate Joselle Mensah collected five medals (three gold), earning her recognition as one of the top female swimmers at the senior level.
The 2025 edition of the Zone 2 Championships drew athletes from 16 West and Central African countries. The event also served as a qualifying meet for the 2026 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in Beijing. This marked the second consecutive time Ghana hosted the event, solidifying its role as a regional aquatic power.
