Ghana has secured 120 employment opportunities for citizens returning from South Africa as part of a government-led initiative aimed at supporting their reintegration into the country’s workforce.

Announcing the development in a social media post on Monday June 1, 2026, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, described the initiative as a demonstration of the country’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.

According to the Minister, the jobs have been secured through collaboration with Ghanaian business leaders and entrepreneurs who responded to a call to support returning nationals.

“We urge Ghanaian CEOs and entrepreneurs to support our Jobs Initiative for our brothers and sisters being evacuated from South Africa,” Mr. Ablakwa said, noting that 120 job opportunities have already been secured.

The initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Delivery Unit, seeks to provide immediate employment pathways for Ghanaians affected by the evacuation process and help them transition smoothly back into the local economy.

The Ministry said the Delivery Unit, headed by Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa, is working with employers to match qualified returnees with available positions across various sectors.

Mr. Ablakwa expressed appreciation to businesses that have already committed to the programme and encouraged more companies to participate in expanding opportunities for returning citizens.

The employment drive forms part of broader efforts by the government to provide practical support for Ghanaians returning from abroad and ensure they are able to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Officials remain optimistic that additional job offers will be secured in the coming weeks as more private-sector organizations join the initiative.
