Ghana has officially inaugurated an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee to spearhead preparations for the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The committee, launched on November 26, 2025, is tasked with overseeing comprehensive planning, coordination, logistics, and resource mobilization ahead of the global tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

During the inauguration ceremony, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah charged the committee to work closely with the U.S. Embassy to streamline visa acquisition processes for Ghanaian fans eager to support the national team. He stressed that maximizing supporter attendance at the tournament is a key priority.

Hon. Debrah also highlighted the need for stringent oversight to safeguard the integrity of the visa process, noting that any abuse could carry diplomatic implications and tarnish Ghana’s image. He further disclosed that the U.S. Embassy has already shown strong willingness to cooperate in making the travel arrangements smoother for genuine supporters.

The formation of this high-level committee signals Ghana’s intention to ensure a well-coordinated, transparent, and successful World Cup campaign, both on and off the field.
