Former Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Peter Yaw Kwakye- Ackah, has called for a thorough investigation and accountability over the recent stampede that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
The tragic incident, which claimed six lives and left several others injured, has sparked widespread outrage and concern over the organization and safety measures at the venue.
Speaking during a panel discussion on Atinka Morning Drive with host Ekow Budu-Sam, the former legislator said it was unacceptable for such a tragedy to occur during a national recruitment process, stressing that “somebody must be held responsible.”
Mr. Ackah urged the government and the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure transparency in their investigations and to put in place proper crowd management and safety protocols before resuming the recruitment exercise.
He also extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, emphasizing that lessons must be learned to prevent a recurrence.
