The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the temporary closure of all recruitment centres in Accra, except the El-Wak Sports Stadium, effective Monday, November 24, 2025.
The directive marks a new phase of crowd-control and safety measures following the stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 12, which left several applicants injured.
In the immediate aftermath of that incident, GAF opened additional screening centres to decongest the main venue.
These included two centres at Nicholson Park in Burma Camp, one at the Air Force Base in Burma Camp, two centres at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie, and another at the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.
However, in an update posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, November 23, GAF announced a reversal of the earlier decentralised arrangement, stating that all Accra centres, aside from El-Wak, would now be closed.
The notice read:
“GAF Recruitment Update: All recruitment centres in Accra for the 2025/2026 exercise, except El-Wak Sports Stadium, will be closed on Monday, 24 November 2025. All potential recruits yet to be screened should report to El-Wak Sports Stadium for the continuation of documentation and body selection.”
The Armed Forces say the latest measure is aimed at streamlining the remaining stages of the recruitment exercise, ensuring better coordination, and preventing further overcrowding as screening enters its final phase.
