In order to encourage early detection and preventative healthcare in the constituency, Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak has started his Annual Free Eye and Breast Cancer Screening program for 2025.

The campaign will take place in all of Asawase’s main electoral districts from Thursday, October 9, 2025, until Tuesday, October 14, 2025. It offers free medical tests, consultations, and health advice to citizens with an emphasis on breast cancer and eye disorders.

Today, the program serves hundreds of residents every day by bringing together volunteers and medical professionals. It is a regular item on the constituency’s health calendar. Services are provided daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at specific locations, such as Dogo Moro Park, Grace Baptist Church, and Imam Haruna Mosque, where mobile medical teams have been sent.

The project, according to Mr. Mubarak, is a component of attempts to increase constituents’ access to healthcare, especially for those who do not have the funds for routine checkups. Because they are not aware of early symptoms, many people put off getting medical help, he said, adding that the tests are meant to close this knowledge gap and promote preventive treatment.

For many residents, the free health screening was more than just a checkup — it was a rare chance to learn about their health without traveling far.

With its reach widening each year, the initiative highlights the power of early detection and preventive care in transforming community health.
