The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has closed its Premium Passport Application Centres in Accra and Kumasi, directing applicants to regional offices for services, the ministry said in a statement.
The closure, effective from 20 February, affects applicants who had been using the premium centres for expedited passport processing. The ministry did not provide a reason for the decision.
“All passport applicants, particularly clients with pending applications at the afore-mentioned Premium Passport Application Centres, are hereby advised to access the Regional Passport Application Centres for the processing of their applications or contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit on 0302-754-200 for assistance,” the ministry said in a statement.
Applicants who previously relied on the premium service window will now have to channel their requests through standard regional offices, it added, assuring the public that service quality would be maintained.
The move is likely to affect those seeking faster processing in Accra and Kumasi, although further administrative details on the transition have yet to be announced.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to take this opportunity to assure the general public of its commitment to deliver quality public service,” the statement said.
