The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, has embarked on a familiarization tour of the Northeast Region to engage key stakeholders and monitor the implementation of the programme.
Joined by the North East Regional Coordinator, Sumaya Ligbi, and zonal coordinators, Hajia Fati paid courtesy calls on the North East Regional Minister, Hon. Tia Ibrahim, the Regional Education Director, the Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), Hon. David Bukari Bariche, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Mamprusi, Hon. Mohammed Rabiu Jabaah.
Discussions centered on progress made so far, existing challenges, and strategies to enhance the programme under government’s reset agenda.
As part of the tour, Hajia Fati visited Naa Sheriga R/C and Saediya E/A Primary Schools to assess the programme’s impact on pupils. She interacted with school authorities, caterers, and pupils, and also distributed biscuits and U-Fresh drinks after lunch.

During a stakeholder engagement session, Hon. Mohammed Rabiu Jabaah, MCE for West Mamprusi, highlighted the programme’s positive influence on education in the area. He noted significant improvements in school enrollment and retention, attributing these gains to the daily provision of hot meals. He appealed for more schools to be added due to the vast nature of the municipality.
The Dean of MDCEs, Hon. David Bukari Bariche, also urged the GSFP National Coordinator to take into account the critical issues raised, stressing that addressing them is essential to the success of the programme and the broader reset agenda.
The tour reinforces GSFP’s commitment to strengthening monitoring, promoting accountability, and ensuring that the programme continues to improve the nutritional needs of pupils across the country.
