Entrance University of Health Sciences has marked its first year as a chartered institution, reporting notable progress in academic expansion and healthcare training.
The Presidential Charter, granted on Dec. 19, 2024, by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, conferred full university status on the private institution.
Since then, the university has introduced undergraduate programs in Medicine (MB ChB) and Dentistry (BDS) and established a School of Nursing. These additions build on its existing Doctor of Pharmacy program.
The School of Dentistry is the first to be created by a private university in Ghana, a development that administrators describe as a milestone in private higher education.
Prof. Aaron Nii Lante Lawson, president of the university, said partnerships with the University of Ghana’s Schools of Medicine and Dentistry have positioned the institution to meet growing demand in the sector.
“We are on course to make a difference,” Prof. Lawson said. “We have a special relationship with the University of Ghana Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and our lecturers are coming from there to train our students, so we are assured of quality education.”
He added:
“We are well-positioned to deliver quality dental health programs for our students.”
Admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year are open across all programs, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing. Prof. Lawson emphasised that the university’s fee structure is designed to make medical education more accessible.
“Our fees are also the lowest in the country among the private universities that offer medicine,” he said.
