Entrance University of Health Sciences, Ghana’s first compreensive private health school, has held its second congregation and graduation ceremony for the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) Class of 2025.
In a speech delivered on her behalf by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. David Asamoah, the Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof. Rita Dickson urged the new pharmacists to extend their role beyond dispensing medicines. She emphasized the importance of empathy and ethical practice in patient care.

“You have been trained to treat every individual with respect, dignity, and empathy regardless of their background. By acting ethically with care, you ensure your practice is not only effective but also human,” her speech read.
The ceremony drew stakeholders from academia, health, education, and traditional leadership.
Mr. Daniel Osarfo was named valedictorian of the Class of 2025, excelling as the best student in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacy Practice. In recognition of his achievement, he received a cash prize of GH¢10,000 and a laptop from Chancellor Dr. Samuel Tobbin.
Of the 84 students admitted in 2019, 59 successfully completed all academic and professional requirements for the Pharm.D degree. University President Prof. Aaron Nii Lante Lawson attributed the milestone to discipline, resilience, and “the grace of God through years of rigorous academic training.”

Prof. Lawson also announced plans to introduce training in industrial pharmacy, aimed at strengthening local pharmaceutical companies to compete with global firms and support vaccine development.
In December 2025, Entrance University marked its first year as a chartered institution, reporting significant progress in academic expansion and healthcare training. The university has also introduced undergraduate programs in Medicine (MB ChB) and Dentistry (BDS) and established a School of Nursing. These additions build on its existing Doctor of Pharmacy program. The School of Dentistry is the first to be created by a private university in the West African Sub-region.
