An engineer with the South Tongu District Assembly is receiving treatment after being struck by stray bullets during a customs operation in Sogakope on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. when customs officers were in pursuit of a Mercedes-Benz suspected to be an uncustomed vehicle.
In an attempt to stop the fleeing car, officers opened fire, hitting the vehicle’s rear windshield.
In the process, the engineer, identified as Alex, who was waiting by the roadside for transportation to Accra, was hit by two stray bullets.
