Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty Adorye has sued controversial self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, for defamation in the Tema High Court.
On behalf of Empress Gifty, the law firm Osei Aidoh Akpokavie and Co. formally filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, according to court documents that her husband, Hopeson Adorye, shared.
The gospel performer is requesting GH₵20 million in damages for libel and slander, though specifics of the defamation case are still scarce.
She also requests in her statement of claim that the court impose a “perpetual injunction restraining the defendant, her servants, agents, privies, and assigns from publishing such words or any similar statements that defame the plaintiff.”
Additionally, Empress Gifty asked the court to mandate that Nana Agradaa remove “all videos and audios containing defamatory remarks about the plaintiff from all her social media platforms.”
“Costs, including legal fees incurred in the pursuit of justice” is another order she is seeking.
The lawsuit comes after Nana Agradaa is accused of repeatedly making derogatory and unprintable accusations against the gospel singer in a number of posts and livestreams on her Facebook page.
According to Empress Gifty’s legal team, the ongoing attacks are a direct insult to her reputation and music industry career.
