John Dumelo, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, organised a special event over the weekend aimed at engaging and supporting first-year students at the University of Ghana (UG), Legon.
In celebration of the students’ matriculation ceremony, Dumelo provided free make-up services and photoshoots, offering an opportunity for students to document the milestone with professional photos. Local student make-up artists were also given a platform to showcase their skills during the event.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Dumelo expressed his excitement about the initiative and his continued commitment to his constituents.
The first-term MP, who won the 2024 parliamentary elections after a contentious race against Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party, used the occasion to connect with the new students and share his vision for the future of the constituency.
Before securing his victory, Dumelo spent significant time campaigning on the UG campus, recognizing the importance of the student vote in the highly contested election. His loss in both the 2016 and 2020 elections only strengthened his resolve to push for a strong victory in 2024.
