Investigators from the Office of the Special Prosecutor have searched the Trassaco home of businessman Nana Yaw Duodu (Dr. Sledge) and the premises of Goldridge Company Limited at East Legon, in connection with an ongoing inquiry into the MIIF gold trade initiative.
The raids, sanctioned by the High Court in Accra, are part of efforts to uncover alleged corruption and financial irregularities estimated to have caused a US$94 million loss to the Government of Ghana.
The OSP’s Asset Recovery and Management Team seized a number of high-value assets during the raid, including luxury cars, expensive jewellery, firearms, and property documents believed to be linked to the alleged financial misconduct.
The development follows the September detention of Dr. Sledge, who, according to officials, failed to meet bail conditions. Investigators allege that Goldridge Refinery Limited defaulted on trade settlements under the Gold for Forex and Gold for Oil initiatives — a lapse said to have cost the state over US$94 million.
