Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw, Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund, has said she does not sympathize with former MP Hawa Koomson, who was reportedly assaulted during the Ablekuma North rerun.

Speaking to the media at the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station, Bissiw referenced her own experience as a victim of political violence during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, mentioning Ms. Koomson orchestrated an attack against her.

Dr. Bissiw said she was beaten, chased in a police vehicle, and narrowly escaped serious harm thanks to her seatbelt. Other officials, she added, were also assaulted that day.

“I want to put on record that any form of electoral violence, I condemn it. I want that to be on clear record. But let nobody ask me, a victim of Hawa Koomson, to sympathise or empathise with her. I don’t.” She said.

Despite condemning all forms of electoral violence, Bissiw stated that she could not empathize with someone she holds responsible for past attacks. She pointed to earlier incidents in Kasoa, suggesting Koomson had played a role in political violence that left people injured or dead.

“What about those who were killed as a result of the violence at Kasoa? What will you tell their families? What about our MP for Kasoa, what she went through?” She argued.
