Defence Minister pays maiden visit to GAF

This was Dr Omane Boamah's first visit to GAF since President Mahama appointed him as Defence Minister

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), General (Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has reaffirmed the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to defending the country’s territorial integrity.

He gave this assurance during the maiden visit of the Defence Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, to Burma Camp on Monday, 10 February 2025.

The CDS also highlighted the Armed Forces’ dedication to national development through its specialised units, including the Engineers, Education, and Medical Corps.

He assured that personnel would always continue to uphold high standards of professionalism, discipline, loyalty, integrity, and dedication.

Dr Omane Boamah, in his remarks, pledged to accelerate development efforts, building upon the foundations laid by his predecessors. He commended the CDS for the progress made by the Armed Forces and emphasised the importance of motivating personnel.

As part of the visit, the minister was led by the CDS on a tour of the Service Headquarters, the Duala Redevelopment Project, the National College of Defence Studies complex, and the Duala Hospital project, among other ongoing developments at Burma Camp.

He also inspected newly constructed accommodation and classroom facilities at the Ghana Military Academy.
