Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, claiming to be the legal wife of the late highlife performer Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, also known as Daddy Lumba, filed a petition at the Kumasi High Court, but it was postponed until October 28, 2025.

The first defendant, Abusua Panin Kofi Owusu, filed a challenge contesting Madam Akosua Serwaa’s status as the deceased’s legitimate wife, which led to the adjournment.

In order for the court to decide the plaintiff’s legal status before moving on to the substantive matter, the presiding judge, Her Ladyship Dorinda Arthur, postponed the proceedings.

Following the conditional appearance motion filed by the second and third defendants, Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni) and Transitions Funeral Home, the court granted them 14 days to produce the necessary evidence.

The injunction application against the defendants was temporarily stayed, pending the outcome of the plaintiff’s capacity challenge.

Justice Arthur advised both parties to explore ADR mechanisms to achieve an amicable resolution. Henry B. A. Baidoo, counsel for the plaintiff, confirmed their readiness to settle, attributing the court case to Abusua Panyin Fosu’s failure to resolve the dispute internally.

A legal dispute has erupted over the widowhood rights of late music legend Daddy Lumba, as Madam Akosua Serwaa—who claims to be his lawful wife—filed suit on October 2, 2025, against Abusua Panyin Kofi Owusu, Priscilla Ofori, and Transitions Funeral Home.

The case accuses the defendants of undermining her marital status, with the court giving them eight days to respond.

Daddy Lumba (born Charles Kwadwo Fosu) passed away on July 26, 2025. His family has announced December 6, 2025, as the date for his final funeral rites at the Baba Yara Stadium, though the ceremony may be delayed or altered due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
